Welcome to S.A.F.E. (Safety Awareness is For Everyone)

A GCHS Privilege All students who drive a vehicle and park that vehicle on school property are required to have that vehicle registered in the main office. How do you do that???

You must have the following: 1. High School Parking Permit Form 2. Valid Texas Driver’s License 3. Insurance Documentation 4. Certificate for the S.A.F.E. session which verifies that you have taken this session and passed the safety quiz

Driving to school is a privilege!!! Guidelines established for driving to school keep you and your fellow students safe on GCHS property. What are those guidelines???

You must receive a parking permit!! The parking permit will be placed on the lower left corner of your vehicle’s rear window!!!

You will be given a parking space!! This is where you will park your car each day!!! Make sure you park in the space that has been assigned to you… How easy is that???

What if another car is in my space??? No need for hostility… Let someone in the office know what car is parked in your space!!!

Do not park:  In staff parking…  In handicap parking…  By the dumpsters…

Where do I enter the parking lot???  When driving to school, you should turn down the south side (band hall side) of the Green Mile. The North entrance is for BUSES ONLY!!! This applies to morning and afternoon!! Anyone coming to the parking lot from the North side can lose their parking privilege.

The gate on the north side will be locked in the afternoons, so DO NOT EXIT ON THE NORTH!!

Vehicles must be registered!! Vehicles not registered will be impounded at the expense of the owner!!!

More guidelines to keep you safe!! The speed limit on the Green Mile is 15 miles per hour…

Do not let students ride in the back of your pick up or on the hood of your truck or car!! You are responsible to tell students NO!! Keep your friends safe…

Texting and Cell phone use  According to a recent survey, 46% of 16- and 17-year-olds admit to text messaging while driving. That's a frightening statistic, considering AAA found that the risk for a car accident increases by 50% for those who text while driving.

Avoid using the cell phone in the parking lot…Get your music figured out before you leave your parking space…  Pay attention to other students and cars in the parking lot as you leave…Make our parking lot a safety zone!!!

NO DONUTS IN THE PARKING Lot!!!  Please drive safely and stay in the designated driving lanes…Do not do donuts, racing maneuvers or peeling out in the parking lot at any time…

In case of an accident on school property… Let someone in the front office know…

When leaving the parking lot…  You must leave on the south side of the high school…(tennis court side)  Anyone leaving on the north side may lose parking privileges  The north side is for BUSES ONLY!!

Now you will take a short quiz on what you have learned. When you have completed this quiz, get your safety certificate!! Congratulations and have a great year!!!!
