Research Assignment Discuss and/or illustrate the lighting techniques of using color temperatures and incident/reflective lighting

Color Temperature The measurements of light wavelengths, in degrees Kelvin, of the visible spectrum of a light source

Kelvin Scale 1900 2800 3200 3800-4400 5500 8000+ The scale measures color temperature of a light source by comparing it’s light to that of a black block that reflects zero light.

Incident Lighting All light that falls on a subject It is measured in foot candles-the light produced by a candle at a distance of one foot Reflective Light Light reflected off a subject

Incident Lighting in Video For high quality pictures you need between 50 and 200 ‘foot candles’ of light. The average home has 5-15 ‘foot candles’ of light The average office has 50-60 ‘foot candles’ of light

Reflected Light in Video The amount of light reflected off a subject determines its contrast, the difference between the brightest and darkest part of a scene. –Not enough reflected light produces a greyish picture –Too much reflected light looses the details in the lightest and darkest parts of the picture making the picture appear too harsh
