2 What Kinds of Taxes do We Pay? Sales Taxes -- Charged on things we buy -- Paid to the state of California Income Taxes -- Paid annually -- Paid to both state and federal governments

3 Forms and Dates April 15 is a very important day It is the day our income tax report is due Everyone who works needs to complete the report W-2 from the employer 1040A, 1040EZ from IRS.gov

4 Mrs. Meza has a job. She cleans hotel rooms.

5 Mr. Meza has a job. He works in a factory.

6 In January 2015, Mrs. Meza gets a W-2 form from her hotel. She gets 3 copies.

7 In January 2015, Mr. Meza gets a W-2 form from his factory. He gets 3 copies.

8 The W-2 forms are for taxes. They have “2014” on them.

9 Mr. and Mrs. Meza keep all of their papers in a safe place.

10 The Mezas’ son is in daycare. The Mezas put the receipts from day care with their tax papers.

11 The Mezas’ will bring these papers with them: Social Security Cards of each person in the family All 2014 W-2 documents for each person in the family Receipts for child care Savings account statement
