The date that the hurricane occurred was September 8, 1900.

3 What is a Hurricane? A Hurricane is created by an area of warm air rising above the ocean, and sucking in surrounding air. The middle of a hurricane is called the eye.

The Location of the Hurricane was in Galveston, Texas .

5 What were the death tolls from this hurricane?
About 6,000 through 12,000 individuals died from The Great Galveston Hurricane.

6 When did the hurricane hit in the day?
The hurricane hit Galveston in the late afternoon on a Saturday and did not vanish until midnight.

7 What were the effects of the hurricane to Galveston, Texas?
The hurricane destroyed about 3,600 homes , wiped out bridges , and telegraph lines. The hurricane also killed innocent lives of all different ages.

. It damage and destroyed over 20 million dollars ($700 million in today’s dollars).

At the time of the 1900 storm the highest point in the city of Galveston was 8.7 feet (2.7 m) above sea level. The hurricane had brought with it a storm surge over 15 feet.

10 Important facts! The wind and the water of the hurricane destroyed everything in it’s path and created the worst natural disaster in America's history. The hurricane estimated winds were 135 miles per hour As the storm hit the island city of Galveston, Texas, it was a category 4 hurricane, the second strongest storm on the Saffir Simpson hurricane scale.
