NCSOSE is currently engaged in a three-year, $1.6M effort aimed at improving decision-making and performance measurement within the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate. It has resulted in the creation of a methodology for performance measurement system design and deployment. 2 Current Research

The AID Methodology

AID Problem #1 When beginning an AID application, relevant stakeholders are prompted to define the problem to be solved. Often times individuals think they know their problems, but analysis of strategic documents (e.g., strategic plans) proves otherwise. There is a need for a text parsing tool to identify important themes in these strategic documents. These themes would then be synthesized as a problem statement.

AID Problem #2 Similarly, a set of critical issues is identified from a particular problem. A similar parsing tool would be useful to decompose a problem into its most relevant critical issues.

Requirements 6 1. Robust design 2. Microsoft software compatible for file analysis 3. Hosting options (web, Sharepoint, etc…) 4. Large file storage requirement (.pdf,.ppt.,.doc)
