12 $8.75/Hour – It is Not Enough To afford a median rent of $2,690, a New Yorker needs $38.80/hr. In Manhattan, workers need $44.60/hr. for a $3,092 rent. In Brooklyn, a New Yorker needs $35.87/hr. to afford the rent.

14 Poverty transcends gender, ethnicity, age, education, and geographical location. No one should live in poverty. All New Yorkers deserve to be self- sufficient. All New Yorkers need real living wages.
