3 Reactivity - (or reactionary response) When a subject knows he/she is being observed and alters behavior accordingly. The experimenter is proven inaccurate or invalid (validity) in their theory. The population has been altered and the findings of an norm based statistic is also invalid.

4 Types of Observation: Direct Observation – Technique for study in which the subject is aware of study. Naturalistic Observation – Technique for study in which the subject is unaware of study and is being observed in a “natural state.” Deceptive Observation – When some aspect of the study is unknown to the subject.
