3 Transatlantic Trends: Immigration Methodology TTI is a public opinion survey conducted in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain In each country approximately 1,000 men and women aged 18 and older were interviewed using randomized telephone interviews In Spain, Italy, and the United States, 20% of the interviews were conducted by cell phone Interviews were conducted in Europe between August 27, 2010 and September 13, 2010, and in the United States and Canada between November 10, 2010, and November 21, 2010 For national samples, the maximum margin of error is +/-3 % (at the 95% confidence level) 3

29 Key Findings 2010 Knowledge of immigrant population changes the proportion of respondents saying there are “too many” immigrants in their country Personal economic factors are correlated with more fear of labor market competition from immigrants, particularly in the US Political parties stance on immigration remains a factor that will influence votes Mixed views on integration, but second-generation is perceived to be better integrated across the board 29
