3  Bellerophon- He was the son of King Glaucus and was a young man who wanted to tame the great Pegasus.  Pegasus- A winged horse, who could soar above the clouds, and was one of the great creatures of Mythology.  Proteus- King of Argos who wanted to kill Bellerophon for wronging his wife. N.L T.M

4  Bellerophon wants to tame Pegasus.  Bellerophon killed the Chimaera by flying over it with Pegasus and shot it with an arrow.  Bellerophon was being greedy with Pegasus’s powers  Bellerophon pushes limits of humans and tries to become god-like.  He attempts to become a god but Pegasus is wiser throws Bellerophon off to his death. 5  The significance of this myth is to entertain and to show a moral. This moral is that you should never abuse your powers and be grateful for what you have.

8  Otus- One of the twin giants who is the son of Poseidon and Iphimedia.  Ephialtes- Another of the twin giants also son of Poseidon and Iphimedia. S.F D.G.

9  Otus and Ephialtes wanted to overthrow the gods.  Made many other threats to the gods such as to pile Mt. Pelion on top of Mt. Ossa and climb to the heavens to overthrow the gods.  Zeus was about to throw a thunderbolt at them until Poseidon promised to keep Otus and Ephialtes in order.  Poseidon stopped the two from warring against the heavens, so they turned to other plans.  Otus wanted to carry off Hera and Ephialtes was in love with Artemis until they found a more beautiful lady  When they tried to kill Artemis with spears for the other lady, she disappeared and the spears each other. 10  The point of this myth was to entertain Greeks. This kind of story was told purely for entertainment not to explain any sort of natural occurrence. S.F D.G.

13  Daedalus- A skilled architecture who built the Labyrinth. He has a son named Icarus.  King Minos- The King of Crete. N.O.

14  Daedalus built the Labyrinth in Crete for the Minotaur.  King Minos found out that the two Athenians escaped and accused him that Daedalus showed them the way out. King Minos imprisoned Daedalus and his son, Icarus.  Daedalus built two pairs of wings for him and his son to escape.  Him and his son started flying but his son fell into the sea and died. Daedalus kept flying to Sicily.  King Minos went looking for him. He devised a plan to find where he was and he did find him but the Sicilian king didn’t let Daedalus to go. N.O.

15  This story was for entertainment although there is something to learn, “what elders say, youth disregards”. This means children don’t listen to what older people tell them. N.O.
