 Research  Creating a Website  Online Assessment

 Use the available resources (internet)  Libraries often don’t have the information that a student needs in order to complete some projects  The internet opens up a plethora of information to students, although some discretion must be used when deeming the sources they use as reliable.

 Creating a website for your classroom  Use the website to display student work.  Gets the students more involved and excited about doing there work because it is being published on the internet.

 Creating your own tests online through your own website.  Requires teachers to be knowledgeable in their use of the internet.  It might be a great way to communicate with students over the vacations and the summer.

 Time  Cost and Available Equipment  Knowledge  Quality  Plagiarism  Cheating  Parental and Community Objections

 Teachers have a busy schedule and often don’t have the time to set up lessons that involve the use of technology.  Possible Solution- Just try to incorporate one lesson a year that uses the internet or other technology.

 Some Districts don’t have the budget to provide technology to the classroom. Some aren’t even connected to the internet.  Possible Solution- Look for grants or corporate sponsors to fund getting the technology into the classroom.

 Quality on the internet is not guaranteed. Many sites run biased and inaccurate information with no regulation.  Possible Solutions- Do a search on the internet to make sure the information you are having the students search on is available.  Make sure you review the sites the students are using on your own or with your students.

 When students use the internet they are more tempted to use their sources to write their paper for them. (Copy and Paste)  Students can also buy their papers off of the internet.  Possible Solution- Use sites like turnitin.com and use questioning to make sure the students know what they wrote about to prove they didn’t just copy and paste and actually learned.

 The internet possesses many things that parents want to keep away from their children.  Many parents may not want their child’s work put on the internet.  Possible Solution- Many schools have some way of monitoring what the child is seeing.  Teachers can view the history of where their students have been.
