4 3 Information Resources I need information from… Internal: Every campus source possible (not just media relations). External: all the traditional sources we currently receive information from. I receive information from... Internal: Media relations and personal sources campus-wide (phone calls, fliers, walk-ins, e-mail). External: Press releases (snail mail, e-mail, fax) from government agencies, businesses, PR agencies, etc.; and syndicated news services (like Associated Press, Black College Wire).

6 5 Flow of information (narrative instead of flow chart) Paper gets information from numerous sources on and off campus. Materials include news and feature stories, commentary, photos, requests for coverage. Material includes both past and upcoming events. Determination is made as to what gets covered on campus and what non-campus news to include. Paper is produced weekly. The website is updated when the papers comes out and contains material from the print edition, as well as any “breaking” news. Students produce the newspaper and maintain the website.

7 6 Flow of information (narrative instead of flow chart) Staff tweet live from some events and post videos on Tumblr, Vimeo or YouTube. Paper is distributed in buildings across campus and in local businesses. Paper is mailed to list of paid subscribers, some libraries and other HBCUs. Gramblinite reporters also write for various websites like hbcubuzz.com and hbcu digest.com. Content is often selected for inclusion on Black College Wire, a national news service.
