Example: Factor 3x2 -13x -10 -13x= -15x +2x 1. Plug and solve values of our “X” 2. Substitute new factors in for bx 3x2 -15x+2x -10 (3)(-10)= -30 3. Solve by grouping!  (3x2-15x)+(2x-10) =3x(x-5)+2(x-5) =(x-5)(3x+2) -15 2 -13 4. Check answer: (x-5)(3x+2) 3x2 -13x -10=(x-5)(3x+2)
