Presented By: Allan Clapp

Is all of this “security stuff” necessary? Different website “security” measures. Ways to choose User IDs. Ways to choose strong passwords. Storing the answers to those “pesky” security questions (and other information).

Identity theft is the number one cyber crime. Pedophiles watch Social Media sites to find children. Thieves use Social Media to look for valuables. Unexpected “cyber gifts” can have “side effects”. Your web camera CAN be activated remotely!

Captcha. Two factor matrix. Security question “challenge”. Other possible future security measures.

Keep in mind that User IDs are always public. Some sites assign an ID to you. Many sites use your e-mail address. When possible avoid using your name.

Hackers have programs to “crack” your password. Avoid using: A single word from the dictionary. Names of pets, family members, friends, etc… Social Security number, phone number, ATM pin, etc… Good password example: Yankee86Goodbye

Avoid storing information (when possible). Using paper should be avoided. If using paper place it in a wallet or pocketbook. Best place is to place it on a thumb drive.
