5. Sloths are tropical mammals that live in Central and South America. They use their long claws to hang onto branches while they feast on the leaves that other animals can't reach Unfortunately for the sloth, their long claws — 3 to 4 inches (8 to 10 centimetres) — make walking on the ground difficult, so they spend most of their time in the tall trees they call home.

6. In most mammals hair grows towards their extremities. In sloths, hair grows in the opposite direction. Sloth metabolic rate is very slow, their body temperature is as low as 30C They move very slowly and only when necessary. Because of their low metabolic rate, they only go to the bathroom once a week.

There are 7 types of sloths:  Pygmy three-toed sloth (Bradypus pygmaeus  Maned sloth (Bradypus torquatus)  Pale-throated sloth (Bradypus tridactylus)  Brown-throated sloth (Bradypus variegatus)  Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus)  Hoffman’s two-toed sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni)  Of those, the pygmy sloth is critically endangered and the maned sloth is vulnerable
