14 AP Biology Ionic Bonds Bonds that are formed by transfer of electrons from one element to the other. Each element (now an ion) will have a complete octet after the transfer of electrons.

15 AP Biology The Ionic Bond The electrical force of attraction between oppositely charged ions. Metal + Nonmetal (metals lose electrons and nonmetals gain) Na become smaller when it loses an electron because it loses an energy level. Na + F−F−
