2 Tsiolkovsky- The beginning
When?- 1900 Where?- Kaluga, USSR Event name-Tsiolkovsky’s rocket equation This was the beginning of the astronautic theory and rocket science.

3 Goddard- First Rocket When?- 1914 Where?- U.S.A
Event name- The first liquid fueled rocket. Goddard created the first successful rocket.

4 Goddard- Rocket Success
When?- 1926 Where?- U.S.A Event name- Rocket launch of the century. Goddard invented the most important part of rocket ships…. The rocket!

5 V-2 – Dawn of the Space Age
When?- 1930 Where?- Germany Event name- Dawn of the Space Age. The V-2 was the first large military rocket.

6 V-2 – Space Travel When?- 1944 Where?- Germany
Event name- First space travel The V-2 rocket was the first man-made object to inter space.

7 The Viking- High achiever
When?- 1954 Where?- U.S.A Event name- Out of this world The Viking, an unmanned planetary probe, left the Earth’s atmosphere.

8 Sputnik- Soviet Success
When?- 1957 Where?- U.S.S.R Event name- First man-made satellite The Sputnik was the first man-made satellite to orbit Earth.

9 Redstone- Lifted Up When?- 1961 Where?- U.S.A
Event name- Redstone lifted The Redstone rocket is lifted up into the atmosphere.

10 Gagarin- First in Space
When?- 1961 Where?- U.S.S.R. Event name- First Space Traveler Soviet Yuri Gagarin becomes the first space traveler.

11 Lunar Orbitor- The Moon
When?- 1967 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Photographic moon Photograph of the moon taken by the Lunar Orbitor.

12 Apollo 12 When?- 1969 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- The moon walk
Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon.

13 Mariner 9- Mars When?- 1971 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Picture of Mars
The Mariner 9 took pictures of Mars from space.

14 Salyut 1 When?- 1971 Where?- U.S.S.R. Event name- First Space Station
Salyut 1 becomes the first space station. (ends orbit in 1973)

15 Apollo 16 When?- 1972 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Picture of Earth
Apollo 16 takes pictures of Earth on their way to the Moon.

16 American Space Station
When?- 1973 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- U.S.A.’s first space station America launches their first space station.

17 Skylab When?- 1973 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- First U.S. space station
Skylab, America’s first space station, is launched.

18 Viking 1 When?- 1976 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Martian soil
Images from satellite Martian soil from first U.S. space probe to land on another planet, Viking 1.

19 Skylab When?- 1979 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Sun’s corona
The Skylab shows the image of the sun’s corona.

20 Columbia When?-1981 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Reusable Shuttle
The first reusable shuttle, Columbia, was launched.

21 Challenger When?- 1983 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Australia
The Challenger takes a photo of Earth that shows Australia.

22 Mir When?- 1986 Where?- U.S.S.A. Event name- Space Station
The Soviet space station, Mir, is launched.

23 Hubble Telescope When?- 1990 Where?- U.S.A.
Event name- Space Telescope The U.S. space telescope, Hubble, was launched .

24 Galileo When?- 1995 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Jupiter’s Composition
Galileo sends back photos and data about Jupiter’s composition.

25 The “Rover” When?- 1996 Where?- U.S.A. Event name- Mars Pathfinder
The Mars Pathfinder landed on Mars and released the “Rover”.

26 International Space Station
When?- 1998 Where?- U.S.A. and Russia Event name- First Modules The first modules of the International Space Station were launched. (2 countries)
