4 50 Hr Oil Add Procedure Every 50hrs except 500 th Period End Weight is recorded just prior to each 50 th hour for use in the usual Fill to Full calculation Engine ramps down essentially using the usual 10min ramp down process (STAGE2, and 1) Engine then idles for 15 minutes; just enough time for operators During that time the vacuum is shut off for a minimum of 5 minutes in order to purge the CCV Filter Canister Drain Line

5 50 Hr Oil Add Procedure Blowby Carryover from the CCV Filter Canister Drain Line is weighed and recorded Fill to Full (5.5kg) oil add, calculated allowing for carryover weight, is then added to the Oil Weigh Bucket along with the blowby carryover The vacuum is turned back on prior to ramp up The engine ramps back up to rated power utilizing the usual warm up process (STAGES 2, 3, 4, and 5) Idle: 600RPM, No load

6 Observations and Background The Fuel Temperature and Intake Manifold Temperature set points were changed in the two shutdown stages: Fuel Temp 35, 30 and also IMT 30, 25. After shutting down the vacuum the line is purged very nicely without any mess Upon reaching about 27” of carryover in the line the check valve begins a slow drip A 1L beaker is being used as a container for the carryover for ease of use in returning the carryover to the oil weigh bucket A stopper, “borrowed” from our chem lab, is being used to cover the beaker

7 Observations and Background Carryover is not included in Fill to Full calculation since it would not be measured separately if the drain line were going back to the pan; it will show itself after the first 50hr period The CCV filter is weighed at the beginning and end of test The vacuum has currently sustained +/- 0.7kPa; currently +/- 1.0 is being used as a safety until more data is acquired Pressure depression is not currently being “controlled”; an engine in the field would not be measuring nor controlling to a set pressure Target 6.8 kPa negative pressure down stream of CCV filter canister
