Pip as a Gentlemen He would have worn a Skeleton suit. – Tight jacket, with two rows of buttons – Open neck jacket with loose blouse – Waist high ankle length trousers. By Henry Thompson

Pip as a Country-boy The style of clothing Pip wore in the country side would have been similar to the style of a gentlemen’s clothing. The differences would be… – Material quality would not have been as high, most likely made of wool – The clothes he had would have been hand-me- downs

Estella Pantelettes under her Empire gown – A loose pant undergarment A shawl with ornate design to keep warm in the evenings Caps and turbans were extremely popular at the time – Turbans were seen as night wear – Ribbons and bonnets were day wear Footwear consisted of a soft cloth or silk ballet-like slipper – Decorated with a bow or rosebud – Outdoor footwear was a half-boot Examples can be seen on slide 6

Empire style Gowns High-waisted dress – A loose fit resulting in a graceful style They came in an array of fabrics – Muslin for day wear – Silks for evening wear 18 year olds wore full length gowns – At 16 ankle length – At 12 calf length Gowns were made of different fabrics from around the world

Adults Late teens wore the same style of clothing as adults – Only young children’s clothes were specialized Women would wear shawls to keep warm – Light weight for evening wear – Oriental styles had influence on the design Men wore wool tail coats or skeleton suits – Most would have caps also
