3 Tenant’s responsibilities Pay rent on time Be considerate of other tenants Do not endanger other tenants No illegal acts on premises Keep premises reasonably clean Prevent damage Move out when the rental agreement ends

5 When things go wrong Unauthorized occupants Subletting Termination of lease Damages willfully done to property 48 hours notice Substantial breach or disturbs other tenants – 14 days notice Doesn’t pay rent – 14 days notice

6 Moving Out Final inspection Make sure you take all your stuff, if it is estimated to be less than $1000 in value the landlord can keep it Both parties must give proper notice Week-to-week tenancy = one week notice Monthly tenancy = three months’ notice for landlord one month’s notice for tenant
