1 The DEW Project and Certificates This presentation explains the Attendance Certificate and the European Certificate in Diversity Training given at the end of DEW training courses.

2 This Certificate offers proof of attendance and is issued by the host Institution and Training Coordinator on behalf of the DEW project. The Certificate shows Name of Participant Event Date and Place ECTS Credits (3) Signatures and Stamp

3 This Certificate is issued by the ICC on behalf of the DEW project and the host institution. The Certificate contains details of the course, the project, the materials and the competences of the award holder.

4 Materials The DEW materials consist of DVD scenarios and training manuals with exercises, discussion points, simulations, case studies, and recommendations for best practice. The scenarios on the DEW DVD are spoken in English. They are subtitled in Bulgarian, English, Finnish, German, Latvian, Russian, Swedish and Turkish, with accompanying print materials in these languages.

6 Holders of the European Certificate in Diversity Training have demonstrated the following skills and competencies to promote diversity training:  apply an understanding of diversity issues in Europe  identify and evaluate key diversity and inclusion issues in the workplace  display critical awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues affecting performance  provide training in principles and practice of diversity management Competences of holder (1)

7 Competences of holder (2)  assess development needs of delegates in participant countries  apply models of diversity training at their local, regional or national circumstances  evaluate the training methodology, instruments and materials developed by the DEW project  apply training materials face-to-face, or through facilitated work groups or self-access, or other appropriate modes  reflect on principles

8 The training course The European Certificate in Diversity Training is awarded on successful completion of an approved training course. This train-the-trainer programme is provided by the Diverse Europe at Work (DEW) project, financed with the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union (Grant Agreement No: 2008-3605/001-001).

9 Methods and Materials (UNEC) The core materials used on the trainer training courses have been developed by the DEW project, and consist of DVD scenarios and prepared sets of training materials and discussion activities, available online or in print. These are examined in detail on the course. The course structure reflects the principles expounded in Uniting Europe through Cultures (UNEC), which are discussed and applied during the course. The methodology embraces a wide range of techniques, including presentation, simulation, case studies, groupwork, peer group analysis, discussion, and outline preparation of training plans based on the course materials.

10 Certification The certificates are awarded on behalf of the DEW project by the International Certificate Conference (ICC), a Council of Europe International Non-Governmental Organisation. Certification by the ICC offers 3 credits within the framework of the European Credit Transfer Scheme (ECTS) calculated as follows: pre-course reading and preparation 20 hours in-course training 35 hours post-course follow-up and reflection 20 hours Study equivalent 3 ECTS

11 Validation ICC validation of this certificate is indicated by the ICC Validation Stamp affixed to the document. Validation of the training event is given by the signatures and stamp. ICC Validation stamp
