2.  The gel makes it possible to measure DNA strands.  Makes them visible so we can measure them.

3.  The gel sorts the DNA strands.  The gel is like a sponge made of Jell-o with many little holes in it.

4.  They sort by size, size determines speed.  The smaller of strand is the faster it moves.

5.  The electrophoresis is how the DNA strands get pushed through the little holes.  Having electrical current helps moves the DNA strands.

6.  Strain the new groups makes the visible to the naked eye.  The DNA appears as bands in the gel.
