1 The FATZO mouse as a Translational Model for the Development of Drugs for Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes. PreClinOmics, Inc. 1

2 Study Design Spontaneous development of obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance was followed in male FATZO mice 6-14 weeks of age. At 14 weeks, the effect of rosiglitazone ( 10 mg/kg/day, PO x 4 weeks) on these parameters was established and compared to vehicle treated FATZO mice. Diet induced obesity (DIO), dyslipidemia and insulin resistance were also followed in male C57/BL6 mice . DIO was established by feeding of high fat diet to male C57/BL6 mice for 8 weeks (6-14 weeks of age). At 14 weeks, the effect of rosiglitazone ( 10 mg/kg/day, PO x 4 weeks) on these parameters was established and compared to vehicle treated DIO mice. Littermates fed regular chow were including as controls. 2
