Who are better at estimating males or females? QUESTION

The purpose of my investigation is to determine who is better at estimating males or females. This is important because if we ever had a project I would know who to chose as a partner. PURPOSE

I hypothesize that females are the best estimators. I believe this because most of the girls I know have an A in math. HYPOTHESIS

PROCEDURE

1. Markers 2. Marbles 3. Color pencils 4. Cubes 5. Snap cubes 6. A see thorough bin MATERIALS

Manipulated: males or females Responding: Estimates Constant: Size of bin and the number of items VARIABLES

1. Gather materials 2. Fill a see though bin with snap cubes. 3. Walk around classroom with bin. Ask 10 girls and 10 boys to estimate the number of snap cubes in the bin. Record. 4. Empty bin and count the number of cubes. Record. DIRECTIONS

5. Calculate the difference between the actual count and estimate. Record. 6. Repeat steps 2-5 with markers. 7. Repeat steps 2-5 with cap erasers. 8. Repeat steps 2-5 with colored pencils. 9. Repeat steps 2-5 with marbles. DIRECTIONS

My hypothesize was correct. Females are better estimators then males. The average between the actual number and the estimates for females was 49.96 and males was 69.22. Now that I did males and females with objects in a bin, I what to see if they could estimate height and if females will be better at that too. CONCLUSION
