5 Amity Business School The Innovation A prosthetic foot in the US costs $8,000 on average. The Jaipur Foot is tailored to the active lifestyles of the poor and costs only about $30.It provided and serviced for free to impoverished handicapped citizen in India 5

8 Amity Business School Mr. Ram Chandra born in one of the Jaipur city’s finest sculptors family Recognized the problem Artificial limbs, either imported from abroad or locally made They were not flexible enough not allow for a normal range of motion The shoes attached to the limb were made by heavy sponge This led a high rejection rate 8

9 Amity Business School Idea Creating an artificial limb that more closely resembled a natural foot Learned the human foot anatomy Created an artificial limb local available materials such as willow, sponges and aluminum molds Secondly an other idea to came in his mind by using bicycle tire(rubber) Finally discussed with many Orthopedic Surgeons 9
