1 Book/Film Compaison Book Movie

2 Finding Fish URL above Finding Fish is an inspirational story of Antwone Fisher. A boy who was born in a correctional facility to a single mother after his father was murdered. This book shows the hardships Antwone had to overcome. Jumping around from one foster care facility to the next until he eventually came to live with the Pickett’s. His stay with the Pickett’s lasted until he was 17 years old. While there he suffered cruel verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. He somehow overcame all that and didn’t resort to the gang and drug life like so many around him had done themselves. Soon Antwone becomes homeless and makes the choice to enlist in the Navy. While serving he meets a psychologist who helps him through his terrible memories of his past.

3 Antwone Fisher Movie Trailer Film Review Antwone
"I think back upon a childhood full of longing for belonging and see my life now as what I have created out of my dreams. An image comes to mind of Mrs. Brown at the orphanage in Cleveland, me sitting at her side, telling her, `you'll read about me someday." - Antwone Fisher Antwone, Cheryl, Dr. Davenport

4 Book/Movie Comparison
The book Finding Fish and the movie Antwone Fisher to me are both great works of art. I enjoyed the book very much because I could paint a picture in my head with what everything looked like and everything that was going on in his life. The movie makes everything come together and brings everything to life. A big difference from the film and the book is that in the film Antwone gets sent into see the psychologist because he has anger problems. Although that doesn’t change much with the main idea of the story it’s still a noticing difference. Another big difference is in the book it takes place in the 50’s to the mid 80’s but the movie takes place in present time. Both movies have the capability of effecting change and inspiring hope. After watching the movie I got a chill that I never got from reading the book. I will never forget either of these for the rest of my life. Reading a question and answer site on the internet it was disturbing to think that all of the things that his foster parents did in the book and movie he said was worse in real life and they underplayed it. I would encourage anyone to read the book first and then watch the movie although I did it the other way around. I would do that just because the movie captures it in more modern time and it’s easier to relate to.
