2 Our Great Salvation I Peter: 1:10-12 January 27, 2013

3 1 Peter 1:10–12 (NRSV) Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours made careful search and inquiry, inquiring about the person or time that the Spirit of Christ within them indicated when it testified in advance to the sufferings destined for Christ and the subsequent glory.

4 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in regard to the things that have now been announced to you through those who brought you good news by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look!

5 The purpose of this letter is to help us through suffering into glory

6 1 Peter 1:9 (NRSV) for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls… concerning this salvation …

13 For Grace to “come to us” there must be one ingredient present: 1.An acknowledged need for Grace

14 Romans 5:8 (NRSV) But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
