Hebrews 11:37-38 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 39 And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised… 38 of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Hebrews 11:38 Moses

Moses’ faith got a “jumpstart” Hebrews 11:23 23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict. His parents had the the faith that was ultimately instilled in Moses himself.

Moses’ faith got a “jumpstart” Acts 7:22 22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds. 1.Raised in all the education and training provided in the house of Pharoah 2.Nursed/raised by his own mother 3.Knew he was their deliverer

Moses’ faith got a “jumpstart” Hebrews 11:24-25 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 1.Raised in all the education and training provided in the house of Pharoah 2.Nursed/raised by his own mother 3.Knew he was their deliverer 4.Refused his life and claimed his heritage

What kind of “jumpstart” are we giving OUR kids?

Moses Had Boldness & Strength as a Decision Maker Knew he was the deliverer Protected Zipporah Willing to stand & be counted

Acts 4:18-20, 29 18 So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” 29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,

Acts 5:28-29 28 saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us.” 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. Ephesians 5:11 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Moses was teachable, he learned… …To take advice, Exodus 18 Hebrews 13:22 22 I appeal to you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.

2 Timothy 4:1-4 4:1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. Ear tickling is a sign of the false teacher

Moses was teachable, he learned… …To take advice, Exodus 18 … Humility, Numbers 12:3 1 Peter 5:5-6 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, I Corinthians 16:15 15 Now I urge you, brothers —you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints—

Moses also had his problems… He was an example of unfruitful effort He allowed his mate to lead him into sin He was still subject to anger, discouragement, and frustration Numbers 20:12 12 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”

We can be people of faith, like Moses We WILL have our failures, But we each have our talents also We CAN allow God to lead and work in our lives. We CAN make our way through the wilderness, serving, to finally cross Jordan and enter that promised land.
