4 American Beginnings: Native American & Early Colonial Literature  What does it mean to be “American”?  How does early American Literature reveal the building of a collective national identity?  How do diverse world views complicate that identity?  How do people form identities in a world that begs conformity?

5 Joseph Bruchac  Read silently for the rest of class.  Annotate pages 1 and 2.  You can always attach post-its/additional paper if you can not fit your definitions/questions.  What you do not finish will be for homework.  Think about our Essential Questions while reading the text.

6 Homework 9/4  Finish reading and annotating Bruchac  Parent signatures due tomorrow for full credit.  Supplies due Monday!  Single-subject notebook, folder/binder, loose- leaf paper, blue/black pen, colored pen, and flash-drive.
