7 Tips & Best Practices Tip #1: Get past the “blame” stage and into productive dialogue as quickly as possible. Tip #2: Bring stakeholders together to find where your common interests are: keeping your Accreditation Status! Work from there. Tip #3: Avoid the pitfall of “victim” thinking. Tip #4: Embed changes into the College’s culture: sustainable and systemic, not ad hoc.

8 Tip #7: Gather evidence about best practices from other colleges, experts, websites, etc. Tip #8: Develop a long term as well as a short term plan. Tip #5: Pay careful attention to the ACCJC rubrics and timelines Tip #6: Assign workgroups who commit to addressing the recommendations

9 Tip #9: Consolidate and integrate internal processes so that there are no “silos” Tip #10: Hold a campus summit to address the recommendations. Tip #11: Communicate all decisions to the campus community in a timely manner to build campus morale and buy-in.

10 Tip #12: Get as many faculty and staff involved as possible in both report writing and in affecting change. If it's just administration working on it, the work won't be useful or genuine. Tip #13: Keep your momentum going: Don’t ever think your work is done! Tip #14: Above all, view sanction as a catalyst for action based on constructive criticism, rather than a punishment based on random and/or irrelevant standards.

Thank you for your attention. You have our best! 11
