Temperature: a measure of how hot or cold a place is
-it can be measured in Fahrenheit or Celsius

-Examples: rain, snow, sleet
Climate: the pattern of weather in a region over a long period of time
-the kind of weather an area has year after year
Equator: an imaginary line that divides Earth into Northern and Southern hemispheres

-Fun Fact: Buffalo, Rochester, & Syracuse are
three of the snowiest cities in the United States!
Hurricane: a powerful storm with very strong wind and heavy rain

Environment: made up of things that surround us, such as land, water, air, and trees
Natural resources: material found in nature that people can use
-Examples: trees, water, soil, & minerals
Mineral: comes from the earth, but is neither a plant nor animal
-Examples: oil and iron

Renewable Resources: resources that can be renewed or replaced after they are used
-Example: trees
Conservation: the careful use of natural resources
Nonrenewable Resources: resources that cannot be replaced
-Examples: clay, stone

Acid Rain: created when pollution mixes with moisture in the air
-can harm plants, animals, and buildings
Recycle: to use something more than once
