2 1.The case In 1896 a man name Homer Plessy boarded a all whit train car Plessy was one eighth Black and seven eight white because he was one Eighth black he was still Seen as a negro and was Arressted for breaking the Louisiana state law.

3 ll) The Case Plessy refuse to get up from the the whit side and move to the color. He was thrown in jail for refusing to obey the law.

4 lll.The case Plessy argued that Louisiana denied him his right to the 13 th and 14 th amendment The judge on this case was john Howard Ferguson

5 llll. Ruling Ferguson ruled that Louisiana had the right to regulate railroad companies as long as they operate with in state boundaries

6 l. Moving up Plessy appeal was taken to the supreme court of Louisiana Plessy ran into the same unreceptive car The state upheld Fergusons ruling

7 ll. Moving up one more time Plessy appeal got taken to the U.S state court supreme court in 1896 Plessy was provided with two legal briefs Albion W. Tourgee and James C. Walker

8 Decision The court ruled 7 to 1 rejecting Plessy The court didn’t see how Louisiana railroad could go against the fourth amendment

9 Punishment In 1896 Homer Plessy pled guilty Plessy was force to pay a fine

10 Change Although Plessy lost the case it helped cement the legal foundation for the doctrine of the separated but equal. The states not only separated races but, in actuality, ensure differences in quality.
