Write/Pair/Share December 7, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo Draw the following table in your journal on page 55 Watch: Space Shuttle Launch and Landing Highlights and fill in your tableSpace Shuttle Launch and Landing Highlights Position of RocketChanges in Motion (Direction) Speeds up or Slows down?

Write/Pair/Share December 7, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo Under your table, draw a picture of the rocket launch. Position of RocketChanges in Motion (Direction) Speeds up or Slows down?

Write/Pair/Share December 2, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo On your picture, label the following forces by using an arrow to show the direction they are acting on the rocket: -Gravity -Friction -Thrust

Write/Pair/Share December 2, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo Find a partner and compare your answers with one another.

HOMEWORK December 7, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo Write this in your agenda! Your homework tonight is to come up with an example of a real-life example of force and motion. Does not have to be science related!

Elaborate December 7, 2013 Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo Find a partner and compare your answers with one another. Man Jumps from Space How is descending to (falling down) Earth different from ascending from (moving up) Earth?

Force and Motion December 3, 2013 DO NOW: Date: December 3, 2013 6.8B Identify and describe the changes in position, direction, and speed of an object when acted upon by unbalanced forces. 13 Force and Motion December 3, 2013 Add to your vocabulary on page 54. Motion – the change in position of an object from a reference point caused by an unbalanced force. Reference point – A location used to measure how far (distance) something has moved Unbalanced force – a force applied to an object that causes it to move. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo

Reference Point & Unbalanced Forces December 3, 2013 Look at the pictures below. For each picture, talk with your shoulder partner about: 1)What is the reference point? 2)What unbalanced force(s) are acting on the object? Picture A Picture B Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo

Reference Point Mini-Lab December 3, 2013 Voice Level=2 Follow directions and safety rules Fill in the information as you go through the activity. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo

Do Now sheet 1.Get out your Do Now sheet Q: If an there is an unbalanced force, will there be motion? Why or why not? Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo

Reference Point Lab Debrief Review December 4-5, 2013 6-8 Minutes: Get with your partner and answer the questions together. EXPECTATIONS: Voice Level=1 Stay seated Be prepared to share for whole class discussion. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo

Graphing Motion December 4-5, 2013 If we were to graph our motion from our lab yesterday, what would the label of our axes be? Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo x y

Distance vs. Time Graph – Notes December 4-5, 2013 Add this to the next page in your journal. Make sure you label all of the parts! Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo x yTitle: Distance vs. Time Graph Y-Axis: Distance X-Axis: Time Intervals

Creating a Distance Time Graph December 4-5, 2013 Working with your group, you will construct a graph from a random scenario. (Procedures #1-2) Make sure you include all of the parts of a distance vs. time graph. Time Limit: 25 minutes At the end of 25 minutes, we will switch graphs and complete procedures 3-6. (10 minutes) We will go over the lab and #7-8 together as a class. Ms. Smith Mrs. Malone Ms. Cedillo
