24 The altar Why here?

25 The altar is always outside. More room for worshippers outside. The burning of the sacrifice creates smoke and heat. Not good indoors. The smoke needs to travel up to the gods. Blood and mess inside the temple would offend the god by spoiling his ‘house’. Death is a pollution so would offend the god if done in their ‘house’. The god can watch the acrifice through the front door.
