Introduction The CoHarie Tribe resides mainly in Sampson and Harnett Counties of North Carolina. Their decedents are from the Neusiok Indian. There are approximately 2,520 members of the tribe. In 1859, they established their own school using tribal funds and teachers. Then in 1911, the state gave them their own school, which they withdrew in 1913. Then in 1943, they were given the East Carolina Indian School. This is the current tribal office.

Overview There are four settlements of the tribe: Holly Grove New Bethel Shiloh Antioch Within each settlement are churches, which act as the center for most activities.

Interesting Facts The state of North Carolina has recognized the tribe since 1971. The tribe is currently not recognized by the federal government.
