KT993-1 Week 4

Explode: to burst, fly into pieces, or break up violently

 to affect deeply or strongly in mind or feelings You did a great job on your assignment. I’m really impressed!! I love you darling. You don’t have to impress me!

 to think about good memories; to think about good things from the past I could not sleep last night. I just laid in bed awake reminiscing about my childhood. I met my friends tonight, who I had not seen in a long time, and we reminisced about high school. Sometimes I just sit and reminisce about all the fun I had with my parents when we traveled to New York.

 to express pleasure to (a person), as on a happy occasion I heard you graduated from college. I just wanted to call and congratulate you! That’s really great you helped to win the basketball game. Congratulations! I thought we should do something to congratulate everyone who got a high score on the CET-6 exam. I’m so happy you had a baby! Congratulations!

 money given for a specific purpose  money given on a regular basis When I was a kid, my parents gave me an allowance of 3 dollars every week. When I went to Atlanta for a business meeting, my boss gave me an allowance of 50 dollars a day for food. I wish I could go to see the Sex and the City movie, but I already spent my allowance for this week. The allowances they gave us traveling to Beijing were not enough. We ran out of money the first day.

 someone who fails at everything, or does not try to succeed; a very lazy person All he does is sit around all day watching TV. That guy is a real loser. He lies and steals from people every chance he gets. He has always been a loser. I really don’t like hanging out with losers who don’t even try to take care of their own kids.

 to do someone a big favor; to help someone do something very difficult You saved my life when I was drowning. You really did me a solid! Since you know the owner of that store, could you do me a solid and help me get a job there? I really appreciate when you did me a solid and walked my dog while I was traveling out of town.

 An apple a day keeps the doctor away. If you live a healthy lifestyle, you will have good health and not have to go to the doctor. Live a healthy life. Eat foods that are good for you, exercise, get enough sleep, and have good friendships.
