2 Purpose The purpose of this portfolio is for the students to understand the elements of story. The students will learn about: Characters Setting Beginning of story Middle of story End of story The students are also working on writing and doing their very best at penmanship. The students are also working on becoming organized and putting work together in a portfolio.

3 Story Elements The class will go over the story Cinderella and locate the elements of the story. And the class will also listen to the song so that they know how to find the elements of a story. STUDENT OBJECTIVES: Students will: Use prior knowledge and the authors' text to construct meaning Demonstrate understanding of story elements through the successful completion of each session's activity Identify the characters, setting, problem, solution, beginning, middle, and end of different stories Apply what they learned to create a character map, setting illustration, problem/solution graphic organizer, events graphic organizer, and story map

4 Story elements Standards: Grade 2: RL—Key Ideas and Details RL Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. II‐B.K.4 F RL Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson. I‐A.1.1 I‐A.1.5 F RL Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details. Goals: Students will work hard on making complete sentences. Making a portfolio for reading. Turn in the best work that they can.

6 Story Elements The class will be using the following templates to finish their story elements project. Students will use this template for their rough draft. They also need to work really hard on using correct punctuation as well as capitalization. It is very important that they try their hardest to make this as neat as they can even though it is not their final draft. This is part of practicing, but they need to practice really hard at this.
