2 Attest (to) – affirm, give witness, testify  Witnesses attest to a defendant’s guilt or innocence.  If you’ve been to the Grand Canyon, you can attest to its beautify. Q: After going to Universal, what can you attest to? A: I can attest to its ___________. A: I can attest to how ______ it is!

3 Attribute – characteristic, feature This car has many attributes. What are they? What attributes would you like in a car? How about a university? A spouse?

4 Discern (something) – recognize, see clearly, distinguish, perceive  Small fonts can be difficult to discern. If you wear glasses, it will be hard to discern the board without them. Can you discern all the colors in this sunset? How about where the sky meets the water? Or the water meets the land? Q: What else might be difficult to discern? A: It is difficult to discern ____________.

5 Dispatch - send  Messages are dispatched by police officers over radios and telephones. Who else dispatches messages?  Companies dispatch orders to customers around the world. What other tangible things can be dispatched?

6 Enhance – to make something better quality than the original  Some people use Photoshop to enhance their pictures, contacts to enhance their eye color, or drugs to enhance their muscle tone. Other things that can be enhanced: writing, life … how?

7 Enigma – puzzle or mystery  The future, labyrinths, and crop circles are different kinds of enigmas. - What others can you think of?  Men and women usually think the other is an enigma.

8 Exemplify – to illustrate; be the epitome of  These workers exemplify professionalism.  The car exemplifies luxury.  What do you think the ELP exemplifies?

9 Mobile - movable  All of these things are mobile. Can you think of other mobile things? What about things that aren’t mobile?

10 Nocturnal – of or related to the night time  These are nocturnal animals.   Parties are usually nocturnal events. If you describe as person as nocturnal, what do you think that means?

11 Orient (oneself) – locate oneself  If you are lost, you have to orient yourself using a map or GPS.  If you are dizzy and fall down, it can be hard for you to orient yourself when you stand up again.
