3 High School 1 to 1 iPads not replacing computers iPads will serve as a platform for digital textbooks Textbooks housed on the iPad – access equity iPads as a learning tool Gradual process – textbooks, calculators, APPs Literature sets 3

4 Intermediate/Middle 4 1 to 1 - planned for school year 2015-2016 iPads as an instructional enhancement iPads will serve as a platform for digital textbooks Textbooks housed on the iPad – access equity iPads as a learning tool- not a personal gaming device Gradual process – textbooks, calculators, APPs Literature sets

5 Elementary K-4 iPads as a learning tool to enhance instruction Classes use iPad carts The hope is eventual migration to etextbooks APPs to be vetted 5

6 Digital Textbooks 32 GB iPads Will hold approximately 4-5 textbooks depending on size Be aware of downloads and samples to conserve space Purge samples and ‘free’ stuff not used Textbooks will go through a vetting process and will include collaboration with all high schools, grade levels and curriculum areas involved in the 1 to 1 project 6

7 Vetting Materials and Resources Free APPs and paid APPs will both go through the vetting process to validate their use with the curriculum Keynote, Pages, Numbers already vetted Office 360 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint Other writing, presentation and spreadsheet APPs should be considered 7

8 Vetting Materials and Resources Digital Learning Professional Development Evaluation and Fidelity Check –very important for GRANT records Please attach professional development rosters or course completion records along with any pertinent feedback documentation to the professional development forms when you turn them in to your media specialist or upload forms to the MCS website. 17 Digital Learning Professional Development Macon County Schools School _________________________ Professional Development Goal: Adoption of Digital Learning Materials and Textbooks Strategy: Provide professional development through the use of grade level or curriculum area Digital Learning Specialist Teams at each school, which will allow for teacher input on the selection and vetting process for the digital learning materials. Action Steps (check action steps addressed): Provide initial professional development for all Digital Learning Specialists. Digital Learning Specialists meet with their teachers and teams to explain goals, provide materials and begin vetting and evaluation of materials. Digital Learning Specialists meet with their teachers and teams to discuss recommendation and adoption of materials and textbooks. Digital learning materials are recommended for adoption.
