6 Course/Program Overview This course introduces students to the educational paraprofessional field and the Kaplan University Associate of Applied Science in Educational Paraprofessional degree program. Topics include roles and responsibilities and professional standards within the field, college success strategies, and strategies and skills needed in the profession. Students will research their professional and personal goals and preview the portfolio project that will be the capstone project in the degree program. What do you know about the Educational Paraprofessional Career? What is an Educational Paraprofessional? What experiences do you have working with students/children? What brought you to this program?

7 Course Outcomes By the end of this course, you will be able to meet the following course outcomes: EP100-1: Identify educational paraprofessional roles, responsibilities, standards and organizations EP100-2: Use a variety of personal management tools, strategies and university resources to enhance learning EP100-3: Identify careers within the educational paraprofessional field EP100-4: Apply basic knowledge of the paraprofessional role to program and professional goals Additionally, the following GEL outcomes are assessed in this course: GEL-1.1: Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English GEL-4.1: Describe the historical events that influence contemporary culture
