Britain is the general name we use when we are thinking of the nation as a whole. Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. ENGLAND WALES SCOTLAND

The United Kingdom (UK) is the political name for Great Britain and Northern Ireland Northern Ireland

The flag of the United Kingdom is called the Union Jack and the national anthem is God Save the Queen.

The UK is a monarchy which means that it has a queen or king. Elizabeth II is the queen. The Queen lives in Buckingham Palace and the Prime Minister at 10, Dowing Street.

London is the capital city of the United Kingdom. It is in England.

Wales is the smallest part of Great Britain. The capital is Cardiff. The Welsh are famous for their love of poetry and music.

The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, a wonderful historic city. You can’t go to Scotland without visiting LOCH NESS, a mysterious lake. Does Nessie,the legendary monster, really live there?

Northern Ireland is also called Ulster. The capital is Belfast, one of the youngest capitals in the world.
