2 Culture Shock When going to another country, you experience culture shock This will be true for Google if we move to Japan There are three phases of culture shock when going to another country

3 Phase One The first phase of culture shock when going to another country like Japan is the Bubble phase It is a feeling of happiness and wonder Everything is new, and you think everything is wonderful You think the Japanese are all wonderful and have the best intentions for you There are so many things for you to discover and life is exciting This phase can last 6 months, and then it comes to an end

4 Phase Two After the Bubble phase ends, you come back down to earth and the next phase sets in Characteristics of this phase include loneliness, insecurity, and feelings of being lost in the new culture Happiness gets replaced with irritation You start blaming the new culture for your problems This is because the mind is temporarily being overwhelmed by a big change This is the natural outcome of the mind as it tries to adjust to the new culture You can either stick it out or get on a plane and go home

5 Phase Three If you stick out the second phase, you make it to phase three In this phase, the mind begins to figure out the newness of Japan Feelings of being overwhelmed are replaced with feelings of confidence Feelings of isolation begin to fade, and you stop blaming Japan for all of your problems You begin to appreciate Japan
