THE ONLY AIM HERE IS THE WIN, AND FOR MOST PEOPLE IT IS NOT A QUESTION OF BREAKING THE RULES – MORE BENDING THEM TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.  DEVIANCE – IN SOCIETY IS WHERE AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP BREAKS AWAY FROM THE EXPECTED NORMS OF THE SOCIETY, DRIFTS AWAY FROM THE STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL RULES.  ETIQUETTE – CONVENTIONAL RULES OF PERSONAL BEHAVIOUR IN POLITE SOCIETY; CEREMONIAL OF COURT – UNWRITTEN CODE.

11.  Controlled aggression is now an accepted part of many sports. We would still frown on an uncontrolled situation where fists fly and injury is caused. If it happened on the streets it would be a crime. Not knew – seen video of mob football and in pre-Industrial England which was violent and brutal. However, over the years we became a country known for gentlemanly behaviour, respect of the opposition – play to the spirit of the game. But as we have said, now that the stakes are so high, gamesmanship is common place.
