5 To prepare you for initial incident assignment as a CTSP trainee. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: –set up a windows computer network –maintain and administer the I-Suite database –provide quality IT support to the incident management team Our Goal

8 What does a CTSP do?

9 SAFETY FIRST Safety is ALWAYS our top priority You’re going to be tired and may have the camp crud Take the time to think Especially when driving

10 For calendar year 2007 there were 9 fatalities. This is a substantial decrease from the 24 fatalities that occurred in 2006. The 2007 fatalities are broken out by category below: Driving – 3: Three fatalities occurred when the firefighters were returning from a prescribed fire (1) and training (2). Entrapments/Burnovers – 0: No fatalities occurred from firefighters being entrapped/burned over. Heart Attacks – 2: One fatality occurred following the Work Capacity Test (pack test); one fatality firefighting. Hazard Tree/Snag – 1: One fatality occurred when a pine tree fell on a firefighter during chain saw training. Aviation – 1: One fatality occurred when helicopter was performing logistical support on a fire. Other – 2: One fatality occurred when a dozer rolled over while constructing fire line; one fatality occurred by electrocution.

11 A CTSP has the skills to: Brief Managers on IT issues Design, build and Support a wired and wireless network Manage hardware and software issues Identify problems, plan and implement corrective action Provide professional and timely user support

12 A CTSP has the skills to: Maintain the network as it expands and contracts Deal with the worst possible Environmental conditions (hot/cold/wet/dry/dusty/bad power) Administer the Isuite system Manage data and Backups Creatively resolve issues that arise

13 A CTSP has the skills to: Work with “hair on fire” Support technology that appears on an incident Support the heavy hitters including web managers, FBANs and Imets, GIS Specialists

14 A CTSP has the skills to: Complete Transition documents Coordinate with other teams Move a network quickly to another camp location Close out an incident
