6 The climate is Mediterranean but temperatures are milder on the coasts thanks to the wind. Temperatures are scorching during summer (from 40 to 45°C), especially inside the country. Winter is mild in southern Greece and a little harsher in the northwest of the country (mountainous areas). Rains occur mainly in winter.
