4 Key objectives of BaltMet Inno Foster the role of BSR metropolitan areas at regional, national, and global level as engines of economic growth and innovation policy makers Increase common understanding and agree on shared interests between participating regions in the field of innovation policy (incl. related economic development policy and spatial planning issues) Mobilise the joint interests connected with identified innovation potentials (and translate them to new business activities) Scale up the profile of the BSR as a worldclass innovation and business environment

7 Expected results of BaltMet Inno (1) 1. Improved structuring, coordination and integration of local and regional innovation and related strategies and strategy processes in the Baltic Metropolises and between them 2. Strengthened role of knowledge, innovation and innovative environments in the marketing strategies of metropolitan areas and in the strategy implementation 3. Reinforced image of Baltic Metropolises as networked and advanced innovative locations at local, regional, European and global level 4. Substantial increase in focused joint cluster development actions and transfer of tools, and in exchange of expertise and experts

8 Expected results of BaltMet Inno (2) 5. Strengthened role and inclusion of spatial development aspect in cluster building 6. Increased awareness about the possibilities of the public sector in introducing and using new, innovative products and services (in order to develop public procurement strategies and processes favourable to R&D and Innovation) 7. Focused cooperation between organisations supporting innovative entrepreneurship (joint initiatives, programmes and promotion schemes) 8. Increased awareness and recognition among local, regional, national and EU policy level and among decision makers about joint interests and needs of large metropolitan areas in the Baltic Sea Region 9. Approval of the trans-national innovation policy framework and political and financial support for the implementation.
