Call to Worship One:Joshua told the Israelites: “Choose this day whom you will serve.” We ask this of ourselves, today, “Whom will we serve?” Many: My family and I will serve the LORD. The LORD is our God. Praise the LORD! One:You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the LORD. Many: We are witnesses!

Call to Worship (cont) One:So now put aside the things that are not of God. Focus your hearts on the LORD. Many: We will serve the LORD our God and will obey the LORD.

O Happy Day, That Fixed My Choice Hymnal # 391 Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194

O happy day, that fixed my choice on thee, my Savior and my God! Well may this glowing heart rejoice, and tell its raptures all abroad.

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!

O happy bond, that seals my vows to him who merits all my love! Let cheerful anthems fill his house, while to that sacred shrine I move.

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!

It’s done: the great transaction’s done! I am the Lord’s and he is mine; He drew me and I followed on; Charmed to confess the voice divine.

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!

Now rest, my long divided heart, fixed on this blissful center, rest. Here have I found a nobler part; here heavenly pleasures fill my breast.

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!

High heaven, that heard the solemn vow, that vow renewed shall daily hear, till in life’s latest hour I bow and bless in death a bond so dear.

Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away!

Opening Prayer Dear LORD, we are breathless, running to and fro, losing track of what we are doing, who we are and whom we serve. With each breath, settle more deeply within us that we might be filled with your Holy Spirit and guided in our choices and decisions. Amen.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Matthew 25:1-5 NRSV “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, all of them became drowsy and slept.

Matthew 25:6-9 NRSV But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those bridesmaids got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise replied, ‘No! there will not be enough for you and for us; you had better go to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’

Matthew 25:10-13 NRSV And while they went to buy it, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him into the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. Later the other bridesmaids came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
