4. Montezuma II-leader of the Aztecs when Cortez invaded Cortez would kill him and conquer the Aztec empire.

5. Francisco Pizarro- Spanish conquistador who would conquer the Inca Empire with only 400 men.

6. Encomiende System- gave settlers the right to tax local Native Americans or make them work in exchange the settlers were supposed to protect the Native Americans and convert them to Christianity.

7. Plantations- large farms that grow just one kind of crop.

8. Bartolomé de las Casas- urged the Spanish to convert the Native Americans to Christianity by showing them love, gentleness, and kindness.
