11 What are the Risks to My Personal Information? Identity Theft Can Lead To –Lost Job Opportunities –Inability to Open a Bank Account –Inability to Obtain a Credit Card –Lower Credit Score Think of this: Once your information is compromised, it’s like trying to put toothpaste back into the tube!

12 How Will I Protect Myself? I Will… Know what my personal information is. Think about where my information is. Limit what information I give out. –Once you give out information or post it online, you can’t get it back! Always ask “Why?” –Why do you need that information? –What are you planning to do with it? –What steps will you take to safeguard it? –To whom do you intend to sell it?

13 How Will I Protect Myself? I Will: Think about how I secure my information, my passwords, etc. Be careful when visiting websites. Be aware of my surroundings. Talk to my parents about gettinga free credit report. Shred! Shred! Shred!
