They are set up to make sure that teachers are prepared to function in the high speed world of technology in the classroom. These technologies can promote: Positive, efficient communication. Ethical and responsible behaviors. Assisting multiple intelligences. Inspire creativity in students.

Why Standards? Standards exist in education to ensure prospective teachers are well trained. The national standards were created to lay out unified requirements for the nations schools. The Maryland standards are narrowed down by the Maryland Technology Consortium to meet the goals that the state decide.

For a teacher to reach the level of effectiveness desired they must implement the various standards. Teachers are to design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community. (NETS)

Maryland Standards As a future social studies teacher there are many different ways that I can implement the state technology standards. Use online discussion groups to help promote useful communication among students. Utilize research tools such as online databases to expand the amount of information that is available.

Tools such as power point can help to ensure that my students multiple intelligences are met and supported. Technology can assist me in becoming a better teacher in that it becomes easier for me to edit lesson plans as well as find new resources.

National Standards Technology can be a great tool to capture students imagination in a different way, such as interactive software. Promote the use of technology outside of the classroom to ensure the students are well prepared for the future. Be a role model by setting an example on how technology should be used.

Use the vast resources on the internet to interact in a global community. I will also use the technology to communicate with students, parents, and faculty in a more efficient way.

Standards These standards were designed to ensure that we as teacher are as prepared as possible to use all of the technological resources that we can to be the best teachers that we can.
