2 Step 1 Creating the font Always use the AdBhashitha template Replace the glyphs Uses Substitution for all the combinations If you want to create from scratch, define the character set in GlyphOrderAndAliaDB file Make sure you use uni naming convention ex: uni0D85 (Define only the base characters). For the substitution glyph use any naming convention, for ease use AdBhashitha naming convention Save the font as otf

3 Download Adobe Font Development Kit (AFDK) http://www.adobe.com/devnet/opentype/afdko.html http://www.adobe.com/devnet/opentype/afdko.html After downloading copy it c:\FDK Run FinishInstallWindows - this will set the path Step 2

4 Copy the Sinhala or Tamil folder from ICTA which contains the AdBhashitha, AdSriTamil Then copy the font you created inside it Step 3

5 FontMenuNameDB - This where you define the Font file name GlyphOrderAndAliaDB - This is the file to define the character set of the language features.family - This is where you define the rules features - Font header information Step 4

6 Step 5 Goto the folder of the font from the command line Enter makeotf -f -o
